Getting to Phuket is easy. Located off the Thailand southwest coast, just one hours flying
time from Bangkok and about 800km by road is Phuket Island. Thailand's largest island with
the shape of an irregular pearl, is 21 kilometers wide and 48 kilometers long. Driving from
one tip to the other will cost you not much more than one and a half hours.
Phuket beaches, unspoiled stretches of fine white sand, are found along the entire west coast
of the island. Each sun-drenched beach has a character and charm of its own, and is separated
from its neighbors by picturesque headlands and backdrops of wooded hills. Beaches are also
home to many of Phuket Hotels and Resorts. Lapping the shore are the sparkling warm blue waters
of the Andaman Sea.
The Phuket "cool season," from November into March is wonderful, with breezy and clear days
and fragrant, cool nights the perfect escape from winter. The Phuket "hot season" from March
to June is warm and the seas are calm. The rainy season is a little more virulent here from
June through October and the Southwest monsoon rains. The cool season is also the time for super
Phuket Hotel bargains. Phuket Hotels and Resorts provide ample room availability and discounted hotel rates.
While most often it's only a cool, late afternoon shower, there can be rainy days on Phuket.
Seas are likely to be quite rough and challenging during the monsoon season. Phuket Sports is
one of the top attractions of this beautiful island, yet swimmers should be very cautious and
vigilant during the Phuket "cool season". Phuket is also home to over 80 dive centers,
many providing liveaboard cruises to the Similan Island and as far as Burma (Myanmar).
Phuket offers many things to do. Best thing to do is to rent a car or a small motorbike and
explore Phuket island independently. Or just relax in one of Phuket's many Spas. Do take time
though to discover Phuket entertainment with it's exiting nightlife, un-matched in Asia.
Patong Beach, located at the Phuket west coast, is the center of all tourist oriented nightlife
in Phuket. There, located within a radius of half a kilometer around Soi Bangla, are over 150 bars and small pubs.
